People eligible to take survey if met the following initial criteria: Is related to an application in human health care and involved the use of a PDA device

Evaluation :

Overall, since 1999, there is clear evidence of an increasing trend in PDA use.

The current overall adoption rate for professional use of PDAs among health care providers, namely physicians, is 45% to 85%.

Younger physicians and residents and those working in large and hospital-based practices are more likely to use a PDA.

The adoption rate is now at its highest rate of increase according to commonly accepted diffusion of innovations model.

A common problem with the evaluation of information technology is that use frequently precedes research.

Physician use of PDAs has increased steadily as more healthcare organizations implement mobile and wireless-enabled applications

2003 AvantGo Healthcare Professional Survey show that medical professionals are using PDAs most often to access clinical information (70%), get medical news (58%) and leverage medical calculators (57%).

A recent report by Manhattan Research, Taking the Pulse, found that approximately 35% of practicing physicians are actively using a PDA.
