Due to the thrive of mobile network and portable device, distance learning is evolved from desktop computer to mobile device such as Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). Most popular brands of PDAs are such as HTC, Blackberry, HP and Acer. PDA itselfs has its own limitations (e.g. Easily broken if dropped, memory limitation etc.) but otherwise, its multi-functions (e.g. wireless network, audio support, bluetooth network) and its multi-uses helps physicians and nurses fully equipped while on the go. Some main uses includes access patient's data, drug guide, medical calculators and write-out prescribtion.

Overall, since 1999, there is a clear evidence of an in increasing trend in PDA. The current overall rate of adoption rate professional use of PDAs among healthcare providers, namely physician is 45%-85%. National University of Singapore (NUH) become the first hospital in the Asia Pacific region to implement an end-to-end or close-loop inpatient medication management system. The increase of healthcare organisation are implementing mobile and wireless-enabled application, hence the use of PDAs has increased steadily.

In conclusion, more healthcare providers, mostly the physician are willing to adopt the use of PDAs in the hospital settings to keep in pace with the fast changing technology. Currently, companies such as Palm, HP and Dell are moving more toward converged mobile devices with such devices seeing strong growth this year which makes PDAs more popular and in demand.
